Getting some rain along the way.  Nice visit in Jerome. Back to Cottonwood for some geocaches and home.   We found 15 caches and returned about 8pm.  Fun day.

Cottonwood 7/12 tue

7/12 tuesday   Trip to Cottonwood for some geocaching.
Our adventure (kathy/dereck & myself) was traveling on I-17, onto Hwy 260 and 89A thru Sedona before returning to meteor crater.
First stop was for some gas at Kachina (I-17 6mi south of Flagstaff). There's a new park call Raymond park which had a geocache.  Further down the road we found another cache.
Next  stop was for a cache on Schnebly rd (dirt road) about 2 mi off I-17. This road will take you to Sedona (12 mi) which I would like to try in the future.  We parked near Forboro dam then walked to the cache. In the area was a beautiful house with its own pond/lake in the  middle of the forest.
Continue on I-17 with a stop at Vista point with a great view and another cache to find. Then west on hwy260 ( 3 more geocaches)to 89A. Stop for early lunch.  Then onto a dirt road  call Bill Grey road in this Cottonwood area having alot of geocaches.  The jeep did great going thru washes and dirt roads.
Headed to Sedona  with a stop at Dairy Queen  in Oak Creek before returing home at 8pm with 22 geocache finds.   Fun day.

Bellemont / geocaching 7/11 mon

monday  7/11/11
Even through it was raining here at the RV park we decided to take off for Parks & Williams to do some geocacing.  First stop was in Flag for a couple of caches then back on the I-40.  Next stop was Bellemont, about 15 mi west of Flag.  This is the area where the tornado came thru last year.  Using our Iphones we saw so many caches that we decided to proceed into the forest.  Drove along the pipeline.  One cache was new and we got a "first to find".   We met a rancher/Glen who leases 1400 acres from the forest service for his cows and horse.   Some spots were wet do to the rain.  We saw Wing Mtn. Back onto hwy 180 to Flagstaff.  Stopped for a early dinner at Olive Garden.  Never made it to williams.  Found 14 caches.  Fun day.
