Walnut canyon 5/19

More pictures to be viewed in Web album: http://picasaweb.google.com/frankflp

Early this morning Bill/Chuck and I set out for Walnut Canyon. We hike down to the area where you can walk 1 mile called the loop. Then back up the steep climb.

The Sinalagua people lived in this area before 1250. The canyon rim provided the cliffside homes. The dwellings were made from the shallow caves eroded out of the limestone cliffs. Walls were built using limestone rocks then cemented them together with a gold colored clay. Finally the walls were plastered with clay inside and out.

Bill & Chuck purchasing some water before hiking down.
