Butterfly Wonderland & Geo

*
Day 2 4/13

Spent the night in Scottsdale. Next morning, out early for breakfast and geocaching. Then a drive over to Butterfly Wonderland. Off of hwy 101 in Fountain Hill. What a great exhibit. It has a 3D theater, the Conservatory (lots of butterflies), Butterfly Emergence gallery ( viewing area of the live stages of metamorphosis), Live ant colony, and a Aquatic pool and freshwater displays. Today, outside was a Bird show. Pretty cool. From here drove a short distance to start the geocaching walk. Bike/hiking trail. Returned to Meteor Crater around 7pm.

Phoenix trip 4/12

*
Trip to Phoenix 4/12
Came down to the Phx Art Museum to see the major exhibit Hollywood Costume.
On display, were over 100 movie costumes from Wizard of Oz, Harry Potter, etc.
Digital viewers of movie stars wearing the costumes.  Write ups from the
designers.  Great displays. One gallery was the Red Carpet- display of dresses
worn by movie stars during the Oscars.
Had lunch in the Palette restaurant. Then visit the other Galleries.  The other
exhibit was the "Read My Pins- The Madeleine Albright collection". Very impressive.
After spending several hours at the Museum, I headed out to do some geocaching in the
area. Found some fascinating parks so close by.
Drove to Scottsdale to check into the X-Stay Hotel.

Day Trip 4/6

* Day Trip 4/6 About 250 mi.
Left Meteor Crater at 8am and finally arrived in Show Low around 6pm.  Droved about 250mi.
My first stop was in Window Rock AZ the Navajo Capital on the Indian reservation. Nice driving
on the reservation. Then to Gallup NM. A small hike on the High Desert Trail to a get a geocache.
Further into town for another geocache.  From here, traveled along Hwy 40 stopping for RT 66 geocaches.
Turned onto hwy 191 south to St John's. More geocaching along 191.  Stopped at Conco Lake, then
continue to show Low.  Quick stop for gas and dinner before getting to my friend's, TJ,
condo.  Fun day and good weather.

1st stop- right off hwy40/ rt66. Popular place in the 50's.
