La Posada 9/22

After a fun day of geocaching, we (Faith, ED & myself) went to a famous place called the La Posada hotel. It was built in the '30s and know for its vip guests and movie stars. Mary Colter is the designer, she was hired by the Santa Fe Railway/ Harvey company to design hotels & restaurants. The hotel is located in Winslow. U can refer to http://www.laposada.org/ for more great info. We were joined by Bunny & Jim from MC RV park. Great food (a little price-zy). It was Faith's birthday. The hotel is filled with Tina Mion paintings- the one here is in the ballroom- "A New Years party.." It has various movie stars.

Chavez Pass 9/22

Monday am. Using Faith's jeep off we went. Chavez pass is located about 21 mi south of Meteor Crater. Traveling across the dirt road to the pass. Once there we located the a geocache which hasn't been found since May 08. From the Pass two ways to go, left which requires 4 wheel drive or to the right. Both ways will lead you to Hwy 87. We chose the left- boy it was interesting. Up & up , across rocks, etc. Views were great. Once we got onto hwy 87 we travel west to do somemore geocaching. Fun day.

Ghost Hunting 9/16

9/16 tue evening: GHOST HUNTING. Two of the employees at Meteor Crater are ghost huners. Got invited to go with a small group. We were on the trail at the M.C. rim at 8 pm to an area of ruins (was a sm house used by the men looking for the Iron in 1903). There was a full moon- really awesome. Sue & Harrel use these elec devices know as EMF's that measure the elec engery. If ghosts are present the lights will come on (5 lights ) based on the strength of the elec force. YES, about an hour into it we did get some readings for about 3/4 min. Cool. New adventure.

Day Trip to Page AZ

Started out early since it was going to be a 140 mile (one way). Traveled on hwy 89 north of Flagsaff. Interesting drive since the elev was going from 7100 down to 4000 then back up to 6000. The drive took me thru little towns like Grey Mtn, Cameron, Gap then up thru Antelope Pass. The pass was under road work, only 1 lane which caused some delay in time. Then into Page. My goal was to see the Antelope Canyon which is on Navajo land. They charge a entry fee of 6.00 and 20.00 to do a 2 mile walk to the canyon. It was very hot and lots of people so I elected not to go. Instead went to the Antelope Marina which was great and had lunch. This marina is new (about 4 yrs old) and they have plans for a hotel and a RV park. From there left to do some geocaching in Page. Another area I visit was Glen Canyon and the Dam. Left Page late.. On the way back stopped in Cameron at the Trading Post. So much history there.
Arrived back at the RV about 8pm. Neat day.
