Day Trip to Page AZ

Started out early since it was going to be a 140 mile (one way). Traveled on hwy 89 north of Flagsaff. Interesting drive since the elev was going from 7100 down to 4000 then back up to 6000. The drive took me thru little towns like Grey Mtn, Cameron, Gap then up thru Antelope Pass. The pass was under road work, only 1 lane which caused some delay in time. Then into Page. My goal was to see the Antelope Canyon which is on Navajo land. They charge a entry fee of 6.00 and 20.00 to do a 2 mile walk to the canyon. It was very hot and lots of people so I elected not to go. Instead went to the Antelope Marina which was great and had lunch. This marina is new (about 4 yrs old) and they have plans for a hotel and a RV park. From there left to do some geocaching in Page. Another area I visit was Glen Canyon and the Dam. Left Page late.. On the way back stopped in Cameron at the Trading Post. So much history there.
Arrived back at the RV about 8pm. Neat day.

Lake Mary

Lake Mary-A little south of Flagstaff (I-17 I-40). Lots of trees. First stop was a area called Sandy Canyon for a small hike. Trail connects with the Arizona Trail. Found the cache in a tree stump.

Then moved onto to another called Vista canyon. This was a cool hike. The trailhead was in a campground. Trail took me down into a canyon with a canyon wall which is popular with rock climbers. Fun, fun. Talked to some hikers along the way.

Getting ready to go down into canyon.

Lake Mary. Stopped here for lunch before heading back to Flagstaff. Beautiful area.

Snowbowl Day trip

Wed. Nice drive to the area. Lots of aspen trees. The Snowbowl lodge and ski area is at 9500. Sking started here around 1939. In 1963 the chair lift was built. The ride to the top takes about 30 min to elev of 11500. Great Views. The area is called San Francisco Peaks, the top here is known as Agassiz. Do to some thunder going on, the staff was asking everyone to leave the top in order to close down the lift. Then it started to rain. Snowbowl is celebrating its 70 yr Anniversary.
From there, down about 2 mi did some geocaching. Small hikes to the cache. The one called Stone-Wall was great because I had deer watching me. Took their picture.

Proceeded to the Museum of N. Arizona. What a great place. Spent 2 hours there. U can read more about the museum at http://www.musnaz.org/
