Once again arrived at Phx convention Ctr/ Symphony Hall. Opera is Orfeo Ed Euridice, sung in Italian with english supertitles.  Premiered in Vienna 10/5/1762.  Composer Chris Gluck 1714-1787).
Story of a young man who loses his wife. He plans to take his life in order to join her. The goddess of love is moved by his despair.  He is allowed to go to the underworld to claim her. There is one one condition; he must not look at her or speak to her  until they have returned to the upper world. So.......... hmmm

Snow storm/Phx 4/14

Saturday  4/14   going to Phoenix to see the opera.
Well I left here about 10am.  Did get some snow the night before here at the Rv park.  Approaching Winnona you can see lots of snow, then it started snowing.  Not bad to Flagstaff on I-40.  Then turned onto I-17 south. Wow, now its really snowing. It was this way for 20 miles. Just going slow. At one point the two lane was down to  one do to much snow.... and it kept coming down.  Once out of it, turned to light rain.  Stopped at Cliff casino for a break, to calm down my nerves.   Then continue to Phoenix. Checked into the Hotel off of I-17/Camelback rd. Very nice. Like a studio.  Booked this thru Hotwire for $32 plus tax to $47.   Room goes for $70.  Later had a early dinner at the 5th & Dinner across the street. Very cool.  The 50's dinner. Good food.  Then got ready for the opera downtown Phx. About a 15 min drive.

Saturn/Fagstaff geocaching 4/

4/09   Monday
Geocaching adventure.   35 caches were published a week ago.  As stated, one cannot find all these in
one trip.   The area is located off of 89A (about 3mi south of Fair grounds) and into the forest.  There were five of us: kathy/derek, kim, Bob(kathy's dad) & me.  Lots of hiking.  Up and down hills. A real work out but fun.   We found 11 and two we could not find.  Ran into some geocachers. Great weather day in the forest.

Rt66 geocaches 4/8

4/8 & 4/9   sat/sun
May 4 2012  is a three day weekend event to celebrate the Route 66 which is part of the  Arizona Centennial (1912-2012). The towns of Holbrook, Winslow, Flagstaff, Kingman and others are having different events scheduled for the 3 day event.  One can see more info at www.azrt66.com .  Someone who knows geocaching has worked with these Town Visitors centers to place geocaching continers.  Winslow and Flagstaff placed 11 of them.  On saturday, I found the ones in Winslow and sunday found Flagstaff geocaches.   Great adventure, because each site was some type of history. In the container was a picture and a write up.  Route 66 was really something special. The beginning of travel motels, fastfood, etc

Winslow: Brigham city late 1800. Only the walls are at the site.
