Holbrook geocaching 11/20

sunday  11/20   Holbrook
After getting a haircut at Wal-Mart in Winslow, headed  to Holbrook about an 1/2 hour drive on I-40. Some of the caches were Historical.  Geat lessons.  Plus some fun ones.  The cache I couldn't find was at the Courthouse. Went  inside the museum to see if the Curator knew anything about the cache. Turns out the little jail house, where the cache would be hidden on, was removed from the property on friday for the Holbrook christmas parade on 12/3.  Funny.  Informed the cache owner and he has archived it for the moment.   Met another geocacher which is always cool.   Found 6 of them before heading back to the RV.

Hotel built in 1888.  Then in 1950 it was used for dorms in a Federal pgm for the Native Am students

RV projects 11/20

sunday  11/20
Today I worked around the RV here at Meteor Crater RV park.  Drained water holding tank and the
water heater.  The plug was hard getting to turn.  Blew out the water pipes with air compressor. Empty the holding tanks.  I use water from gal bottles now.  Restroom is right next door.  This is all in preparation when I leave in Dec.  Leaving the RV here since I coming back the end of Feb. Off to
Wal-Mart for a hair cut  then for some  geocaching in Holbrook

Replacing RV converter

friday   11/18
Well last week I replace the RV batteries.  Got 4 yr out of the old ones.  I was told that if a cell or battery was dead then the converter wouldn't charge the battery.  But starting the RV engine would charge them.  In three days the converter wasn't charging.   On friday, Derek & I started the
project.  The owners manual indicated the converter was under the bed---nope.  Did some Google searching and found someone who stated it was behind the Elec Distribution panel.  Once we removed
there it was..... Mmmmm.  Tiny space to work in.  Took the converter to Flagstaff RV to have it it tested, yep it was dead.  They had the same one, cool but the cost of $280.00.  Wow  It went in faster then pulling it out.  Everthing is working.  Good.

converter where are u?

ET Hwy #3-4

. Con't trip in Las Vegas  Blog #3 of 4
Saturday  11/12/11  Geocaching day on the ET hwy
.
One of the main reasons coming to LV was to travel on the Hwy 375 called the ET hwy. along this route is 1500 geocaches from Clay springs to Tonopah.  Caches were very easy to find. About 50-80 ft from the road.
From LV to Clay Springs is about 120mi. Travel on 93 north to 318. Intersection at Clay springs is 318 I 375. Turn left onto 375. Shor distance is the first geocache-ET001. This is a 30m ammo can.  The rest of the caches are white 35m film tubes.  In the middle of "no where" comes a little community call Rachel. Motel, RV spots and a cute cafe - Litle "A Le" Inn. Had a late lunch. Friendly staff. Met other geocachers. The hi-light of trip was going out to the Area-51. Drove 12mi in from main road. Came across the gate & fence with alot of signs to Keep Out. Took a couple of pictures. More geocaching on the way back on the ET hwy.  Then onto LV. Fun day.  Once there we went and revisit the MGM casino.
