Trip sun 6/28-6/30 tue to Las Vegas from Meteor Crater
My friend Ken from Seattle WA was planning a trip to LV and he asked me to join him. Hadn't seen him since I was camp hosting in WA 2007. Leaving MC after work around 3:30p it was going to be a five hour trip. Headed to Kingmen and onto the Hoover dam (rt93). High security there. The new four lane is being built with a awesome bridge over the canyon. Sunday nite Ken & I had a late dinner and got caught up on the lastest news. The next day, monday, we relaxed around the pool. Early in the evening we headed out to the Stratosphere and took a ride up to the observation deck. What a view. While there we had to hunt for a payphone to write down the phone # for my virtual geocaching. From there, went to the monorail and rode it to the Bellagio hotel to the see the dancing waters. Had a nice dinner there. Later played the slot machines and then back to the resort. On tue we relaxed around the pool. I took Ken to the airport about 4pm and then back on the road to Meteor Crater RV park.

Vista canyon hike tue 6/23
Out of Flagstaff- off of Lake Mary Rd
Here is a campsite known as Vista Canyon. A very propular area for hiking and rock climbing. One of the reason to go there was to find a geocache I tried to find last year (7/08) with no luck. So with the three of us, we did some hunting. Derek was the one to find it as he was coming down from the incline and almost stepped on it. Funny. The hike down into the canyon is about .5 mile. So green with no many types of flowers. We encounter many hikers going up or down. We did see some people doing some rocking climbing . Fun fun day.

Walnut canyon hike 6/16 tue
***********************************************
My co-worker Derek (Meteor Crater) and I went to Walnut Canyon near Flagstaff to do some geocaching. His wife Kathy elected not to go. Our hiking trip was over 5 miles. We hiked down into the canyon and up the other side. The first cache to find was off the trail about 200 ft. The second one was located on the other side of the canyon. Both locations offered great views.
Pictures:
1. Derek at the 2nd cache. 2. Looking down into the canyon. 3. Me climbing over a fence area before reaching the canyon edge. 4. Me at the first cache. 5. Returning back, a field of purple flowers.

Gallup NM outing 6/15 mon
Since it was my day off, I wanted to go to Gallup NM to do some geocaching and see the new casino called the Fire Rock. Took about 2 hours. My first geocaching stop was at a park that had wonderful sculptures. The second stop was an arch sculpture- cool. Then onto the casino. Note the parrie dog. They are so cute.
Flag Day at RV park sun 6/14
Sunday 6/14 was Flag Day. Here at the Meteor Crater RV park our host Jim/Bunny wanted to have a ceremony to retired the older flags. We had a guideline to follow. Lowering the current american flag. Then raising the old one. Each of us read a message about the flag from a script. We had music playing. The old flag was lower and folded. Normally you can burn the flag but do to heavy wind we elected not to this. Afterwards we BBQ hot dogs. Very nice.

Two Guns (geocache) 6/9
My co-workers, Derek & Kathy , and I headed to the Two Guns area near the Meteor Crater RV park off of I-40. Introducing them to geocaching which they loved. From this area we continued onto Winnoa (off I-40) and hiked up this hill. Great view.
